About us
Gloucestershire LG branch is based at Hucclecote Library in Gloucester. We have over 3000 members working for over 300 different employers. The largest employer is Gloucestershire County Council, followed by the other local authorities. We also represent support staff in schools and in further and higher education, and we have members in a wide range of other settings including care homes, children’s homes, children’s centres, learning disability services and housing providers.
We represent staff in collective bargaining with employers, and we support and advise members in disciplinary and grievance processes. Most of the work of the union is carried out by ordinary members, with training and support from the union. We have a network of activists in various roles including branch officers, convenors, stewards, workplace reps and health and safety reps. If you would like to join us, please call Lewis, Fari or John at the branch office.
